Description

The TRY initiative (https://www.try-db.org) was established in 2007 at the request of IGBP and DIVERSITAS to develop a joint database of in-situ measured plant traits to support vegetation modelling and biodiversity research. Established at the Max-Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry in Jena, the TRY database has achieved unprecedented coverage. Since 2015, data have been publicly available, and since 2019, they have been under a CC BY license.

Trait data from the TRY database are frequently used in different contexts, inspiring and contributing to new scientific research. This contribution will briefly introduce the TRY database and present some research highlights.
